Wondery | The Cotton Club Murder

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

After Exhibit C, Wondery came to me looking to create an engaging video asset to promote their newest podcast, The Cotton Club Murder.

Set in 1980’s LA, the podcast tells the true story of cocaine dealer, Lanie Jacobs, and her business partner, variety show producer, Roy Radin, as they attempt to break into the movie business. They team up with Hollywood big-shot, Robert Evans, to produce The Cotton Club, a film about the New York City nightclub of the same name. A web of lies and deceit results in the murder of Roy Radin. This podcast series delves into the conspiracy of his untimely and mysterious death.

The timeline and budget were tight. Relying on creative use of stock photography and actual 1980’s newspaper clippings, we worked over the course of a week to craft an engaging video that captures the essence of the cocaine-fueled world of 1980’s Hollywood and tells this gripping story of betrayal and murder.
